Painted Barrel, Wyoming – Present Day

Cowboy Jack Watson is roped into volunteering in a charity bachelor auction. The plan is for a woman to bid and win him, and all he has to do is show her a good time. Jack fully expects one of the older ladies to win the bid. To his surprise, sweet, shy Layla Schmidt bids the highest. She is friends with his brothers’ girlfriends, so he is familiar with her. Their first date consists of Jack introducing Layla to ranch life. The two soon get to know one another and connect—and more dates follow. Jack is originally from Alaska but has no reason to return there. In fact, Jack is thinking of buying land around Painted Barrel, and Layla would be a good excuse to stay in town.

Like Jack, Layla was pressured into attending the auction. Her best friends convinced her that no one would bid on Jack because many of the men would have girlfriends to bid on them, so she should help poor Jack out of his misery. It is for charity after all! Layla is well aware of who Jack is and is secretly attracted to him. During the auction, her narcissistic mother arrives and is soon bidding on Jack—outbidding her own daughter! Layla finally finagles the final bid and wins Jack. Her mother, who has spent most of her life putting down Layla, informs him that her daughter is a virgin. How embarrassing! But Jack is nice—and sweet. They soon click and Layla decides she wants to spend more time with him. Their relationship builds slowly, but the sparks are flying as their mutual attraction grows. But, just as things are looking up in their relationship, it is threatened.

In THE BACHELOR COWBOY by Jessica Clare, we meet Jack Watson. He’s a handsome, affable cowboy who is trying to decide whether to stay in Painted Barrel since his two brothers have settled here. The town is small, and everyone pretty much knows what is going on. While he initially didn’t want to do the auction, it is for a good cause. The question is which old lady would win him? With Layla being the winner, Jack feels like he is the one who won. He is aware of her mother’s words about Layla being a virgin, and he suspects it’s true. Therefore, he proceeds slowly with Layla. Meanwhile, he’s looking for land.

Layla’s mother is one step short of being a crook. Her mother owns some property that is prone to flooding and she wants to sell it—without disclosing the flood plain issue. Layla, who is an accountant, is trying to steer her mother into being honest. She has lived for years with her mother’s insults, and unfortunately, Layla believes the lies that she isn’t good enough to land a man like Jack. However, there is a romance building between them. Will she finally give in to the desire that simmers between them? Will her mother come between them?

THE BACHELOR COWBOY is an entertaining tale that will tickle your fancy. Layla lacks confidence in herself when it comes to men—no thanks to her mother. Jack soon gives her what she needs to realize that she is as beautiful and sensual as any woman. Readers will smile—and root for them—as they slowly fall in love. There’s plenty of passion and a whole lot of finding love between our couple. Don’t miss THE BACHELOR COWBOY.

Ridge Trail, Colorado – Present Day

Sterling “Star” Parson is used to working alone in her trucking job, but also in her quest to rescue sex trafficking victims. She frequents a bar in Ridge Trail and is familiar with the bartender, Cade McKenzie. She knows he watches her a lot when she’s in there, but she dismisses it as he appears harmless, though she must admit she feels a bit of attraction. When Cade begins to ask a few questions of Sterling, she realizes that he knows what she’s up to. One night, Sterling gets lucky, which leads to an invite for her to a party at a house she suspects where there will be women lured into sex trafficking. But it all goes wrong, and she barely escapes with her life.

What Sterling doesn’t realize at first is that Cade also rescues sex traffic victims and he suspected not only where she was going, but that she’d run into trouble. Cade causes a distraction and breaks up the party, but he doesn’t know what happened to Sterling. He finally finds her and the two discover they’re both after the same thing and decide to combine forces. Cade wants to protect Sterling, while she has always been able to take care of herself.  But they prove to be a formidable team.

NO HOLDING BACK is an exciting tale set around the hunt for sex trafficking victims. Sterling isn’t a stranger to the feeling of being captured by a sex trafficker. Luckily for her, she escaped at the right time. Since then, her goal has been to take down the big bad guy behind one of the biggest sex trafficking operations in the area. But he proves hard to nail, so the added benefit of Cade helping her is a big plus. Yet, Sterling isn’t sure if she can trust Cade because he seems so mysterious. She soon learns that Cade and his whole family are in the business of rescuing sex trafficking victims. Sort of like a modern-day Batman venture with a fortress and lots of toys and gadgets. In the end, will Sterling get the man she’s tracking? How about the sizzling attraction between her and Cade? While an affair is not something she usually does, will it allow her heart to open to another person?

Cade is assisted in the “family business” by his father, brother, Reyes, and sister, Madison. They, along with their trusty butler, live in a secluded house outside of town. Using the bar and another business as fronts, the McKenzie brothers can gauge the pulse of the sex trafficking business. They have managed to operate under the radar, so the last thing they need is to have someone else “poaching” on their territory. That is why Cade convinced Sterling to join forces with them. Meanwhile, their attraction heats up, and it isn’t long before they’re having sex. Once the bad guy is caught, will their fling continue? Or will Sterling move on to another part of the country?

There’s plenty of danger and sizzling love scenes in NO HOLDING BACK, the first tale in Lori Foster’s new series, The McKenzies of Ridge Trail. Once you start reading NO HOLDING BACK, you will be unable to put it down. Excitement, passion, and a tale that ends with good winning over evil, don’t miss NO HOLDING BACK.

Aurelia Island, North Carolina – Present Day

Paige Parker isn’t in the market for a man, but it doesn’t stop her from being angry about all the promotion for Valentine’s Day and its emphasis on couples. She decides it’s time to celebrate “Happy Singles Day.” With the help of her trusty personal assistant, Paige makes an out of season B & B reservation on an island off the coast of North Carolina. There she plans to celebrate February 15th as Happy Singles Day. Getting to the island is not easy—it is accessible only by a ferry that’s available depending on the weather and there are no vehicles on the island. She arrives in a torrential downpour and is driven to the B & B via a bike with a sidecar. The moment she steps into the B & B, she’s ready to turn around and leave. The house is rundown, and the host is surly. But Paige can’t leave because the ferry has been shut down due to the weather.

Single father Lucas Croft used to run a bed and breakfast, but after the unexpected death of his wife, he let the business—and the house—slide. It was his mischievous sister who dealt with Paige Parker, and he figures if he makes it as miserable as possible for her, then she’ll turn around and leave. He just didn’t expect the storm to close the ferry. With her unable to leave, they are stranded together for several days. His daughter is temporarily staying with his sister, so it’s just Lucas and Paige. She’s a pain in the ass, but a very attractive—and desirable—woman. In a matter of days, their tenuous relationship turns into an attraction.

HAPPY SINGLES DAY is a funny romantic comedy about how love can find you unexpectedly. Paige didn’t arrive at this point of “no man in my life” stage due to a lack of trying. It’s just that she’s been hurt in the past and feels it’s best to remain single. Lucas loved his wife and has mourned her since she died a couple of years ago. Paige is a prickly control freak who goes in and rearranges things like his kitchen cupboards when he prefers his unorganized life. The B & B was his dream with his wife and he’s now at the crossroads wondering what to do next.

With the rain falling outside, there isn’t a whole lot the two can do except talk. While Paige is uptight at first, Lucas does intrigue her as she wonders about his past. It’s clear he had a wife. At first, she wants to get off the island as soon as possible, but once the weather clears and she can leave, she has begun to forge a friendship with Lucas and decides to stay. Making s’mores and asking him “twenty questions” brings them closer. Will this lead them to the bedroom? Paige will return to Chicago after her vacation is over. Will they fall in love and will Lucas try to convince her to stay with him?

A cute tale that will tickle your funny bone, HAPPY SINGLES DAY is about finding love when you least expect it. Will Paige remain single forever? Can Lucas get over the death of his wife? Don’t miss this tantalizing funny read.

Rainbow Lake, California

Three years ago…

Maze Porter grew up in the foster care system, which isn’t always a fun place, but the best time she had was living in the Walsh household. There, she became friends with the Walsh children, Caitlin and Michael, but also other foster kids, Heather—and Walker Scott. Michael died in a house fire years ago, a fire that Maze blames on herself. As such, the remaining four get together every year to celebrate Michael’s birthday—at his gravesite. Maze is surprised to see Walker show up. Four years ago, they had married during a drunken romp in Las Vegas. But things stay the same with them ignoring the elephant in the room, and they walk away from each other once again.

Present Day…

Caitlin Walsh is about to marry Dillon and her best friends, Maze, Heather, and Walker all arrive to stay at her house for the week leading up to the wedding. Things are so-so between her and Dillon. He has their married life all planned out and children aren’t even near the top of the list. Caitlin wants a baby badly. Then there is her soon-to-be mother-in-law from hell who is going behind her back and changing the wedding plans. Will she be able to make it to the altar? Maze arrives first and Caitlin rebukes her for not keeping in touch. Then, Heather arrives—with a little girl in tow. This is the first she had mentioned about a baby.

Walker arrives and it’s suddenly awkward between him and Maze. Neither had told Caitlin or Heather about their quickie marriage. But he has papers with him. Divorce papers. All Maze has to do is sign them, though secretly he wishes she wouldn’t. The chemistry between them is sizzling hot, even as she tries to ignore it. In fact, Maze brought along her employer (and friend) Jace as her plus one, pretending that they are a couple. As Maze and Walker dance around their attraction, a new one heats up between Heather and Jace. Meanwhile, Caitlin wonders if her wedding will even happen.

Four friends get together for what should be a happy occasion, but their emotions are all over the place in THE FOREVER GIRL by Jill Shalvis. Their happiness as teenagers was shattered with Michael’s death and the inadvertent role Maze played in it. To this day, she has refused to face Caitlin’s parents, but that will change when they arrive for the wedding. Once the four friends, plus Jace, Dillon, and Heather’s daughter, Sammie, are all settled under the same roof, this tale really kicks into high gear. Maze tries to avoid being alone with Walker, while Jace turns out to be just what single mom Heather needs. Dillon turns out to not be much help in Caitlin’s battle with his mother. Will they all make it to the wedding day without killing each other?

THE FOREVER GIRL is part of the Wildstone series, but this tale is basically a standalone. As always with a Jill Shalvis book, there is plenty of laughter and fun, as well as emotions pouring from each scene, which is why I’m giving it A Perfect 10. You will laugh and cry with Maze, Caitlin, Walker, and Heather as they reunite for what should be a happy occasion but is turning into a week none of them expected. Grab a copy of THE FOREVER GIRL and curl up in your favorite spot because you won’t be able to put it down.

Moose Springs, Alaska – Present Day

Because actress River Lane needs a career boost, she agrees to help film a tourist documentary film in Moose Springs, Alaska, a picturesque town at the foothills of Mount Veil. The locals are quirky and not always friendly to her. One day while filming, River runs into surly local mountain guide Easton Lockett. He literally is rolling his eyes at her but tolerates her sassiness anyway. Easton is a burly guy who resembles a big teddy bear with his bushy beard. As part of the documentary, River plans to scale Mount Veil. Easton warns her that it just isn’t “any” mountain, but one that requires endurance and experience. She convinces him that her crew will be able to do it and hires him. A little pissed that the trip will require that he be around the annoying River, he nonetheless agrees.

Once River and Easton, along with their crew of his assistant mountain guide and her two fellow filmmakers, start the ascent of Mount Evil, the trip brings them together over the next few days. The higher they climb, the harder it becomes. Early on, the group encounters a marmot, which implicitly attaches itself to Easton. It is like the marmot has a crush on him, even to go so far as sleep with him in his tent. Easton is both piqued and amused by the animal’s behavior. As Easton and River’s relationship—which has bordered on a love-hate one—turns into attraction, the marmot grows jealous of River. Yes, ENJOY THE VIEW has its light-hearted moments, but it soon turns into suspense as they grow closer to the top of the mountain. Danger will be lurking.

ENJOY THE VIEW features the love-hate relationship between Easton and River. She has had past success as a popular actress, but as her fame waned, it’s time to redirect it somewhere else. Producing and filming a documentary as they’re climbing to the top of Mount View is exhilarating for River and her crew. For Easton, he puts up with them, mainly because the documentary is authorized by the Alaska Tourism Board and it will help bring more tourists to Moose Springs, a town that badly needs them. River might be a bit annoying, but she’s a beautiful annoyance.

The third book in the Moose Springs, Alaska series by Sarah Morgenthaler, ENJOY THE VIEW will tickle your fancy and give a thrill as you hang—literally—on the side of the mountain with River and Easton. Their love builds slowly, as it starts out argumentative, soon builds into respect and friendship, and then love. But despite how they feel about each other, their lives are not destined to be together. Easton’s life is in Moose Springs, while River will be moving on after the filming is done. Is there hope for a happily-ever-after? Find out the answer in the fun and intriguing ENJOY THE VIEW.

Las Vegas, Nevada – Present Day

Billionaire Ethan Connors hasn’t really thought about marriage, but he does hate being alone. His ex-girlfriend had given him an ultimatum, which he ignored, and watched her walk away. Now she’s about to marry another man, and Ethan suddenly wants her back. He plans to interrupt the wedding ceremony and “steal” the bride. But things go awry when Ethan barges in on the wrong wedding ceremony and the bride-to-be runs off with him. The wrong bride. But a very willing woman. He didn’t realize his mistake because her face had been hidden by an elaborate wedding veil.

Divya Singh is being pressured by her family to enter into an arranged marriage and she hasn’t been able to stop the ceremony—until a stranger interrupts them—and he whisks her away. Using the distraction that he provides, she agrees to go off with him, though he quickly learns he has the wrong bride. But Divya begs him to take her with him, and intrigued, he agrees. Divya is beautiful and smart, but her traditional Indian parents wanted her to give up her dreams of singing and marry the man that they chose for her. Instead of just dropping Divya at the airport, Ethan flies her to New York City with him. The attraction that had sparked between them from the moment they met soon intensifies. Ethan takes Divya from New York City to Key Largo to Minnesota—where their sexual fling soon turns to love. But Divya knows that she will need to face her family, which means she will likely give in to their demands to marry the man of their choice—who isn’t going to be Ethan.

In RUNNING AWAY WITH THE BRIDE, readers get an unusual tale about a stolen bride and how they eventually fall in love. Ethan is a tech wizard who has more money than he needs and is willing to help others, but he can’t find love. He is not even sure he wants marriage, but he feels lonely, which is why he reconsidered his breakup with his ex and decided he wanted to marry her after all. Turns out, Ethan really wasn’t into love, just a woman to love him. But things between him and Divya are different. She comes from a wealthy family, so she can’t be a gold digger, and she isn’t ready to marry right now. Their adventures together expand Divya’s horizon, while Ethan begins to realize that he has brought on his loneliness. They are the perfect couple and appear to be headed for love, but can they make it work for a future together?

It’s old-world tradition versus modern-day love for Ethan and Divya in RUNNING AWAY WITH THE BRIDE. Readers will be rooting for a happily-ever-after for our couple.

Royal, Texas – Present Day

Several months ago, Gracie Diaz won the lottery, which means she can now rub shoulders with the rich and famous in Royal. One night, she attends a masquerade ball at the Texas Cattleman’s Club, where she encounters Sebastian Wingate, and their sizzling meeting ends with them making love in an empty room. Both wore masks, so a few days later, Gracie thought she’d had sex with Sutton Wingate (Sebastian’s twin), which was kind of embarrassing because her best friend Lauren had started to date Sutton. Gracie soon realizes that the man she had the most glorious sex with was Sebastian, but she doesn’t confront him, not even when she learns that she’s pregnant with his child.

Sebastian never knew who the mystery lady was that he had sex with that night, though he has (discreetly) tried to find out among his friends. His family recently has gone through some financial difficulties, so they are in the midst of selling their mansion to a buyer—Gracie Diaz. While meeting with her one day to settle on the terms, Sebastian gets a whiff of Gracie’s perfume and realizes that she is that woman. He has heard she’s pregnant, so it’s a question he must ask her: is it his child? Gracie admits it, which leads Sebastian to the only conclusion he can come to: she must marry him. Gracie refuses him. But can she deny that the attraction between them isn’t still there?

Gracie’s life has changed dramatically in the past few months, and at times, it seems like it’s steamrolling ahead. While it can be overwhelming, she can’t let Sebastian force her into a marriage she doesn’t need. They barely know one another, despite having that intimate contact the night of the masquerade ball. Sebastian has a bad boy/playboy reputation, and Gracie has no plans to be just another notch on his belt. Besides, she can now afford to give their baby everything he or she would ever need. At first, they keep the news of the impending baby a secret, but just like any secret, it eventually comes out. How will Gracie react at finding herself embroiled in a scandal?

Sebastian soon realizes how much Gracie means to him. But can he convince her that his intentions are pure and honorable? What about the fact that his ex-girlfriend has shown back up in town and now needs him? Will it drive a wedge between him and Gracie? Meanwhile, Sebastian works on winning Gracie over again. Let’s just say that having sex within an hour of their meeting is not the best way to start a long-term relationship.

ONE NIGHT IN TEXAS is the final tale in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Rags to Riches series and it ends where it began with Gracie winning the lottery. Will the instant lottery winner find love and happiness with the sexy bachelor? Find out by picking up a copy of ONE NIGHT IN TEXAS.

While he’s hosting a party for several people at his home, he catches Chiara, who is a guest, checking out his computer. Miles decides the best way to get to the bottom of why she’s there is to seduce her into his bed, then confront her. He learns the next morning after their sizzling hot night together that she knew Zack Eldridge, a prep schoolmate of his who died mysteriously when he was seventeen. What is the connection? Why is she digging into the past—a past that Miles and his school buddies want to stay secret.

But after her hot night with Miles, weird things begin to happen—including threats on her life that appear related to the case. Miles goes into protective mode because whoever is threatening Chiara could have knowledge about Zack’s death. Is it someone within their tight circle—or someone else?

Miles should be angry at Chiara for snooping into his personal business, but their instant attraction takes precedence in THE RANCHER by Joanne Rock. The Mesa Falls series has revolved around the six male schoolmates who attended a private all-male school. Zack was their friend, too, but after he jumped to his death one day in front of them, they aren’t sure if it was intentional or an accident—and they’d prefer to keep the info of how he died out of the news. Unknown to Miles and his friends, Chiara—then known as Kara—had befriended Zack in an art class she attended as a joint venture between her private girls school and Zack’s. Miles soon learns that she may have some information to share on another secret that has stymied them…

Miles and Chiara’s relationship is complicated because they shouldn’t trust each other. Yet, there is an attraction that leads to a one-night stand. Once Miles has her in his bed, he wants her again. But can she be trusted? Who is behind the attacks on Chiara’s social media pages and her life? By the end of THE RANCHER, a few answers to the questions brought up are answered. The final book in the series is out next month and should bring finality to the lingering questions that Miles and his friends have wondered about.

Gold Valley, Oregon – Present Day

Ranch owner Cricket Maxfield “won” in a poker game Jackson Cooper’s services for thirty days and she plans to enforce the bet. She recently purchased the ranch and could use all the help to get it up and running. Cricket has known Jackson all her life and he intrigues her. However, she can’t get too cozy with him in that way because he might be her half-brother. Her mother may or may not have had an affair with his father around the time she was conceived. But it doesn’t stop her from having unexplained sexual feelings for him…

Jackson sees Cricket as an annoying pest who is keeping him from the one thing he wants right now: her property. He figures he will show her how hard it is to be a rancher and she would then sell it to him. However, as annoying as she is, he can’t help but be attracted to her. Since he’s required to live on the property—in her house—then things really heat up between them. An unexpected kiss leads to a startling revelation from her. After Jackson drags Cricket over to his father’s house to find out the answer, it turns out they aren’t half-siblings. They’ve barely absorbed the news when they end up having sex. How will this change their working relationship?

In THE RANCHER’S WAGER by Maisey Yates, Jackson and Cricket thought they were each getting the better of the wager but, instead, they end up having feelings for each other. Cricket is the youngest child, and for the first time, is out on her own running a rundown ranch. Jackson has always coveted the property and thought it’d be easy pickings to show Cricket how she wouldn’t be able to run it on her own. While they have known each other forever, there is animosity between the families related to their parents, though things have changed since Cricket’s sister married Jackson’s brother.

Originally, Jackson was supposed to stay in the bunkhouse, but it’s not fit to live in, so Cricket invites him to use the spare bedroom in the house. Of course, it was inevitable that their simmering attraction would rise to the surface into a red hot passion. Caribbean – Present Day

Old childhood friends—and once secret lovers—Hannah and James haven’t seen each other in years. But they are forced together on a 70-foot sailboat that is sailing on a Christmas cruise in the Caribbean. Hannah’s stepfather, Harry, owns the sailboat and isn’t aware that the reason she agreed to come on the cruise is that she was forced by her mother to “serve” him with the divorce papers. She would’ve never come if she’d known James was going to be on board because their relationship ended badly after his brother died. Things were just never the same after Jason’s death. But now that Hannah and James are “reunited,” the old feelings return.

MISTLETOE IN PARADISE is an engaging short romance set around Christmastime. It helps that Hannah and James are familiar with each other—and haven’t gotten over their breakup. Hannah thought she’d moved on—and that James had too. At first, she hopes to avoid being around him, but Harry makes sure to force them to spend a few hours alone on a remote deserted island. This allows them to talk—and rekindles the passion they once knew. The death of James’ brother Jason stands between them, which is more of a regret that they wished they could’ve done more for him. Guilt is sometimes hard to deal with. But even though they might find love between them again, Hannah and James do live on opposite coasts. How can they make it work? Then there is Harry…how will he react to the news that Hannah’s mom wants a divorce? He’s always enjoyed their numerous reunions.

A fun, entertaining novella that is a simply perfect read when time is so short, don’t miss MISTLETOE IN PARADISE.

Eternity Springs, Colorado – Present Day

Hannah Dupree has been wandering the United States looking for solace, yet she still can’t forget about the tragedy that has haunted her for three years. She arrives in Eternity Springs as dawn breaks at Lover’s Leap. It would be so easy to end it all there. Her misery. Her life. As Hannah contemplates jumping, a strange man in a motorcycle roars up and distracts her. His name is Boone McBride, and his presence is calming. He invites her to breakfast and takes her to his home, where he offers her a place to stay for a few days in a cottage not far from his house. Hannah agrees to stay for a few nights, but she plans to leave before she gets attached to Eternity Springs—and Boone.

Boone knew exactly what Hannah planned to do at Lover’s Leap and his expertise in dealing with troubled people helps him in deescalating the situation. Boone has his own issues, one that led him to leave his lifelong home in Texas several years ago. He and his wife were unable to have children and planned to adopt. But a last-minute change by the baby’s mother left them with no child—and his wife was devastated. She committed suicide and it has haunted him. Just a couple of days before Hannah arrived, Boone learned that a baby abandoned by its mother had a note with it. The note said that she wanted Boone to raise and adopt the baby. He’s grappling with it, mainly because he suspects who the mother is and he feels like if he turns it down, he’s failing her…again.

As readers can tell from the early chapters of reading BOONE, Hannah and Boone are both tragically marred by what has happened to them. She does tell him early on that her two sons drowned, but she doesn’t let him know the circumstances. Boone doesn’t tell Hannah about the baby he has been asked to adopt. He fears the idea of talking about the baby would scare her away. Besides, her plan is to stay only a few days. There will be a wedding the coming weekend in Eternity Springs and Boone’s relatives will be descending on the little town in Colorado. Boone asks Hannah (and she agrees) to be his “plus one” for the wedding to ward off his mother’s matchmaking shenanigans. As Boone and Hannah get to know one another, they start to have feelings for each other. But she is about to leave, right? Boone will be going to Texas to get the baby right after the wedding. Then, he learns the nanny that was hired had an accident and will be unable to help him once he returns to Colorado. He looks to Hannah for help. Will she accept?

BOONE is an uplifting tale that has two people still hurting and haunted by the past coming together to heal themselves. Many people have made a home in Eternity Springs and all have encountered Celeste, the owner of Angel’s Rest, a resort and spa that has helped bring tourists to the small town. Celeste is a bit of a celestial herself. Is she an angel in disguise? She always seems to be there when someone is experiencing an emotional crisis and she helps guide them through it. In BOONE, how does Celeste bring together Boone and Hannah? Will Hannah finally tell the full—and tragic—tale of what happened to her children? Will Boone adapt to having a baby in his life? And finally, will Hannah be a part of the new family?

During the darkest times of winter, it’s always good to pick up something that leaves you good and warm inside. With BOONE, this is that book you will want to pick up to help you through the coldest season.

Romantic Comedy

Bakersfield, California – Present Day

Radio show producer Everly Dean is having the worst birthday ever. Not that past birthdays haven’t had their ugliness but catching your boyfriend in bed with his assistant is the worst ever. Add in the fact that Everly just accidentally spilled the information to listeners on live radio while she was ranting to her best friend (and DJ), Stacey. Now everyone knows she was cheated on. As Everly slinks away in shame, she is contacted by the station manager, Chris Jansen, who gives her the rest of the day off. Everly figures her days at the station are numbered.

But the response to what happened to Everly is overwhelmingly sympathetic. And since she complained about not being able to find a decent man, an idea forms by those around her: why not do a Bachelorette style contest where Everly goes out with men selected for her and she reports back on how the dates went. At the end of a few weeks, she will narrow her selections down and choose what is hopefully Mr. Right. Chris will assist Everly so that everything goes smoothly. The problem is that Everly and Chris are starting to become attracted to each other…

Everly has TEN RULES FOR FAKING IT and hopes the list doesn’t get any longer. Her rules have tidied her over as she has waded into the dating pool, but the men she’s picked in the past don’t muster saving. Add in that she’s a bit shy, how can she suddenly put herself out in the public eye reporting on her dates with men she just met? Chris is there to guide her, but things start to get nice and cozy between them. When will they realize that an attraction is brewing between them? The men that Everly picks are suitable, but none give her that zing of desire she has being around Chris. Will she end up with one of the men anyway?

TEN RULES FOR FAKING IT is a cute, funny tale about the travails of dating. A lot of people have advice for Everly, but will she follow it? How can she when the one man who she finds attractive is the man most likely not available to her: Chris. What Everly doesn’t realize about her boss is that he’s hiding a couple of things from her and the rest of the station employees, namely that he’s the son of the owner. Chris didn’t divulge that info when he started because he wanted to be liked and respected on his own merits. Of course, like with any secret, it’s bound to come out. How will Everly react?

Looking for a breezy, funny romance to kick back with? Then be sure to grab a copy of TEN RULES FOR FAKING IT and prepare yourself for a journey of some fun reading.

Minneapolis, Minnesota & Boston, Massachusetts – Present Day

Airline pilot Ava Capp loves her job despite all the dysfunctional people she works with. When she finds herself back home in Minnesota, it brings her back to something she’d rather forget: the murder of her best friend ten years ago. The case has never been solved and her late friend’s mother acts like Ava is responsible for the death of her daughter. Ava is convinced by the dead woman’s twin brother to attend a ten-year memorial service and hoped to go without anyone knowing she is there, but alas, it causes a commotion and the mother freaks out. That night Ava goes out to drink and tries to forget what happened and runs into medical examiner Dr. Tom Baker. He, too, hasn’t forgotten that cold case. But is their encounter just a blip in the night, despite the mutual attraction that causes sparks between them?

Things begin to go weirdly downhill for Ava. First, the funeral home is vandalized, and fingers seem to point to Ava’s involvement. Then she learns from her union representative that her mandatory drug test came back dirty—really dirty—and Ava is grounded until she can get a clean one. Tom invites her to go with him to attend a conference in Boston, so they head there. Meanwhile, it begins to look like Ava is being set up for a hard downfall. The big questions are why…and who? It appears related to the murder ten years ago.

If you’ve never read MaryJanice Davidson before, then you should understand that her books are usually a bit quirky. In TRUTH, LIES, AND SECOND DATES, that trend continues. Ava is smart and tough, but she has to contend with people around her that tend to get on her nerves. She’s dated off and on, but her work schedule is not exactly conducive to a love life. Rarely do dates lead to a second one. That’s okay with her, but will it change with the entrance of Tom into her life? He’s proven to be helpful and he’s there for her. He’s currently helping to raise his orphan niece and shares a home with her and the girl’s grandfather. Will Ava find herself melding seamlessly into their blended family?

Along the way, readers get involved in trying to figure out who is trying to wreak havoc into Ava’s life. It all comes back to the murder ten years ago. It was Ava who found the body. The two women lived together. Is it possible that the real intended victim was supposed to be Ava? If so, why has it taken so long for the murderer to act again? There are plenty of questions raised in TRUTH, LIES, AND SECOND DATES, but rest assured that the answers will come by the end.

An intriguing and compelling tale, don’t miss TRUTH, LIES, AND SECOND DATES.

Cold River, Colorado – Present Day

Riley Kitteridge and Rae Trujillo married just a few weeks out of high school, but their marriage fell apart after only a few short years together. Yet, they still can’t quit each other, which results in an occasional “friends with benefits” moment. But Rae feels it’s time to move on, especially since Riley won’t give her the one thing she now wants: a baby. He made it clear during their marriage that he had no plans to become a father. She approaches him one night and informs him that she wants a divorce. That seems to set something off in Riley. If he can’t have her, then he will make it difficult for her to walk away.

But while Rae still has feelings for Riley, she wants more than great sex with him. His childhood was filled with dysfunction and anger, and he believes eternal love isn’t possible. Yet, he married Rae because he wanted her—and loved her—but doesn’t want any children. Now that she’s older, the “no children” clause is a dealbreaker for her. Her maternal clock is ticking—and it’s time to move on from the man who will only cause her heartbreak.

It’s a reunion of sorts for Rae and Riley in SECRET NIGHTS WITH A COWBOY. They were in high school together and once they graduated, he couldn’t wait to get her to the altar. They agreed on many things, including no children, but they were best in bed. Yet, things began to change, and the arguments started. Eventually, Rae moved out, though they would get back together from time to time. But Rae knows it’s time to move on, even if it means turning her back on the best sex she’s ever had. Well, he is the only sex partner she’s ever had…

The moment Rae asks Riley for a divorce, something shifts inside him. It’s like cutting off a part of him and he can’t do it. The sexual vibes between them still hum deep, and even before she can get out the door, they’re kissing. Rae and Riley are soon doing the one thing they haven’t done in a long time: talk. Will their discussions lead them to find a way back together? Or is it the end of the road for their marriage?

SECRET NIGHTS WITH A COWBOY is an emotional and sensual read. The failure of their marriage isn’t something either wanted to happen, yet they could never confront the issues that drove them apart. Rae is going to have to tell Riley what led her to walk out. He is going to have to deal with the fact that he needs to like himself and change what’s wrong. It’s an interesting and emotional journey for both.

Will Rae and Riley get reunited and build a future together once more? Find out the answer in SECRET NIGHTS WITH A COWBOY.
